Website Construction and Maintenance Contest of SIS Comes
to a Fruitful End

   After careful study and planning, in SIS was held a website construction and maintenance contest
between the 12 institutes, to further promote the work of website construction and maintenance of both
the school and the institutes.

  From May 22 to 31, an on-line voting platform was set up. The students and the faculties voted for their
favorites according to the quality of the websites, which involved a total of 1061 persons. At the same time, all the institutes handed in written summaries about their performance, achievement and innovation in
website construction and maintenance in this academic year.

  At 2:00 on the afternoon of June 2, the websites of the 12 institutes were evaluated. During the evaluation, the technician of each institute displayed one by one the panorama of their websites including the structure, content, the website safety and maintenance and illustrated their management, personnel, methods and
features of the websites. And a group of examiners, composed by the school website construction and
maintenance group and the heads of the 12 institutes, marked the 12 websites.

   Li Jun, head of the Department of Publicity, and Chen Jun, director of the Office for the Network
Management of ZJU, took part in this event and commented on the 12 websites. Hu Songfa, Party
Secretary of SIS, put forward his best wishes to the website construction of the institutes in the future.

   Based on the written summaries, the results of the on-line voting and the display, Institute of German
Studies won the first prize, Institute of English Literature and Institute of Translation Studies the second,
Institute of Linguistics, Institute of Discourse and Cultural Studies and Institute of Foreign Language
Teaching the third. And Institute of Applied Linguistics, Institute of Intercultural communication, Institute of
Media for Foreign Language Teaching, Institute of French Language & Culture and Institute of Russian
Language & Culture won the progress award.
