Prof. Jian QingMin, Director of the Institute of Media for Foreign Language Teaching of SIS, together with the young teachers of the institute, paid a one-week visit to the press of “Learning English” (a newspaper) and the press of “English Study” (a Journal) in Shanxi Province in the summer vacation for academic exchange. During that period, Prof. Jian gave special lectures on the latest hot research topics at home and abroad, and gave instructions concerning quality requirements for foreign language
newspapers and magazines. Meanwhile, both sides had discussions about further cooperation in research.
In recent years, during the transitional period, the Institute of Media for Foreign Language Teaching has actively amassed research force, fully employing its own advantages and exploiting its own features to meet the practical demands of the development of the society. In the meantime, the institute is actively widening channels for researches and trying to get more research projects. It has accomplished a positive result in promoting the research qualities of young teachers. In 2005, the institute has gained 9
research projects in all and total research funds of 107,500 yuan. In a word, the institute has taken on a fine aspect that everyone has projects and engages in researches.
