Prof. Zhang Hanliang and his wife from the Department of Foreign Languages and Literature of National Taiwan University (NTU), give academic lectures in SIS
On the afternoon of
Ms. Zhou Shuhua studied in The University of Manchester, England, where she obtained an L.D. degree. Her major research
area is British literature of the Renaissance, in particular poetry of Edmund Spenser (1552-1599) and religious English poetry in the 17th century. With the theme of “Introduction to Textual Criticism”, her lecture introduced the origin, present situation
and significance of Textual Criticism, which truly broadened the audiences’ outlook and made them feel the importance of text versions in various fields of researche.
Prof. Zhang Hanliang conducted postdoctoral researches on English literature in The Johns
the head of Department of Foreign Languages and Literature, NTU and a “Hu Shi” guest professor. At present, he is a
special professor of NTU, and has a high reputation in the international field of Comparative Literature. This time his topic is
“The Crisis Discourse in Comparative Literature Studies”, in which he put forward all sorts of phenomena in current
Comparative Literature with full and accurate basis, and his own understanding of Post-Colonial Discourse and Eco-criticism.
During the free discussion afterward, the audience had a lot of talk with the professors on their topics of common interest, from which they benefited a lot. At last, Prof. Shen Hong, on behalf of the research group, thanked the professors for their brilliant
lectures and proposed to strengthen academic exchange and cooperation between the two universities in various forms.
