From Sept. 21. to Sept. 23. 2004 the dean of SIS , Prof. Dr. Ulrich Steinmueller , was invited to visit Tongji-University in Shanghai . The president of Tongji-University , Prof. Dr. Wan Gang, and the leaders of the Foreign Affairs' Office and the School of Foreign Languages showed a remarkable interest in the reform process of SIS , especially the establishment and organization of institutes and the revision of curricula. A visit of representatives of Tongji School of Foreign Languages at SIS to further discuss the reform process is under preparation. The reform process and restructuring of SIS found also great interest with the representative of DAAD (= German Academic Exchange Service), one of the leading personalities of CDHK(=Chinese-German College of Tongji-University) at Tongji-University, Prof. Dr. Horst Sund, with whom the dean of SIS had an extensive discussion on different aspects of higher education and foreign language in China under the conditions of globalization.
