On November 26th, the Institute of French Language & Culture invited Virginie Galy, from French Alliance, to give a lecture titled <The Origin and Development of French>. Teachers and French-major students attended this lecture which started at 1 pm.
First, Ms. Galy made a brief self-introduction. She is from France and majors in history. She came to China for further studies on Asian history and culture. Now she is studying Chinese in Yuquan Campus, Zhejiang University, and also is a French teacher in French Alliance of Hangzhou. She has a wealth of knowledge and in-depth study of the origin and development of French.
The fabulous lecture given by Ms. Galy lasted more than an hour and was composed of three parts: the origin of French, the creation and fusion of French and the development of French. During the lecture, students was seriously taking notes and actively participating in discussion. After the lecture, Virginie gave detailed answers to the questions raised by students as well.
Afterward, Professor Meng Xiaoming, the director of Institute of French Language & Culture, invited Xu Meng who had won the first prize in French competition as a special guest to exchange her experience with other students. She read aloud three speech drafts that she used in the competition then. The students present were impressed by her fluent spoken language and experienced skills and determined to learn from her.
